2020 SEASON

It’s an understatement to say that 2020 was completely unpredictable! As the world made the transition from public to virtual life, arts organizations were left with the difficult decision of deciding how to pivot without losing the magic of live performance. Something important happens when we are in the same room together, concentrating, listening, and breathing together. The artists may create the sound and images, but the connection begins in the perceptions and experiences of the audience.

The state of California shut its doors days after the success of WORKING TITLE. In the immediate weeks that followed, we decided to put together a series of virtual fundraisers to help support our worldwide community of collaborators, callled THE SOFA SERIES. Every 2 weeks, we opened our virtual doors, offering exclusive performances and artworks that were created while sheltering in place from artists around the world!
