NOVEMBER 29 - Electroacoustic Nite!

An evening of electroacoustic music by Pablo Dodero, Nathan Hubbard, Francisco Eme, John Jolley, and Joe Cantrell

JANUARY 31 - Guided Meditation

Break out the comfy clothes, blankets and yoga mats for this mini mindfulness retreat, group improvisation, and sound bath guided by Mindfulness instructor, Ashley Bridgewater. Incorporating pieces by Pauline Oliveros and others, you will experience an array of drones and mantra led by computer musicians Cooper Baker and Joe Mariglio. Inveterate improvisors Ariana and Chris Warren will also contribute sonic meditations to round out the evening. You also are invited to participate in the soundmaking to your preferred level of engagement, from singing out loud to vibing out on the floor. Come ready to chill, hard.

FEBRUARY 28 - Improv Continuum

CONTINUUM is a unique evening of tag-team improvisation. Four musicians begin improvising. At repeating intervals, one musician is replaced at random with one of twelve other players. The other players continue to improvise while one of them leaves and a new performer joins the group. This continues until all the musicians have performed.

Playing on this show will be some of San Diego’s best improvisers, each bringing their own individuality and styles ranging from jazz to noise. CONTINUUM will feature: David Borgo, saxophones; Joe Cantrell, electronics; Sean Francis Conway, multiple instruments and vocals; Nathan Hubbard, drums; Nick Lesley, drums; Batya MacAdam-Somer, violin and vocals; Jonathan Piper, tubas and electronics; Lexi Pullido, vocals and multiple instruments; Pedro Sollero, electronics; Ariana Warren, clarinets; Chris Warren, electronics.

MARCH 28 - Experimental Turntables

What happens when skilled composers and improvisers make music using only a bunch of record players? Find out in this unique concert at Bread and Salt! For over 70 years, avant-garde musicians have been creating new and unheard-of sounds by combining phonograph records with found objects and other sound-making devices. This event draws from that long tradition and features pieces written exclusively for multiple turntables and turntable improvisation performed by Jen Boyd, Joe Cantrell, Pablo Dodero, John Jolley and more.

We’ve partnered with the Bread and Salt Gallery in Barrio Logan to bring you inexpensive monthly concerts of cutting edge new music, curated by some of our favorite local artists and friends. Tickets are sold at the door (cash/Venmo/PayPal accepted), beer/wine are available for a small donation, and masks are required indoors.

For our FINAL installment in the series, Mayor Taco Ghost is doubling-down on the absurdism, theatricality and kink for this show. Anchored in boogie instrumentation and fusion harmony, we want to dance celebrating space octopuses, glue boys, shitting like a horse and, of course, fucking ducks. Get down while we castrate the sexiest of genres in our kaleidoscopic world of high art and very low humor.

Amelia Mardesi - vocals, Andrew Allen - theatrics, Brendan Nguyen - keytar, Bob Pierzak - lead vocals/composer, David Aguila - trumpet, Demian Carlson - theatrics, DJ Giuco Piano - DJ, Joe Mariglio - live sound processing, Julia Yu - vocals, Leslie Fisher Sanders - video artist, Paul Roth - sax, Phil Bowden - keys, and Tommy Babin - bass
