This hands-on workshop led by Xareni Lizárraga at the City Heights Library invites participants to explore Indigenous materials and identity through sound. Participants will build simple instruments while reflecting on listening, materiality, and cultural knowledge.

Este taller práctico, dirigido por Xareni Lizárraga en la Biblioteca de City Heights, invita a los participantes a explorar los materiales y la identidad indígenas a través del sonido. XARENI LIZARRAGA

Xareni Lizárraga (b.1987) is a multi-disciplinary artist born in Tecate, México, and based in San Diego. Her experience as an artist is rooted by nature and has exemplified itself through sound ecology, painting, and sculptural practices. Her broad use of techniques has allowed her to develop a career around art education primarily for the youth; as she is currently developing art curriculum for her peers, as well as the Monarch School.

Xareni Lizárraga n. 1987) es una artista multidisciplinaria nacida en Tecate, México, y residente en San Diego. Su trayectoria artística está profundamente arraigada en la naturaleza y se ha manifestado a través de la ecología sonora, la pintura y la escultura. Su amplio dominio de diversas técnicas le ha permitido desarrollar una carrera en la educación artística, principalmente para jóvenes; actualmente está desarrollando planes de estudio de arte para sus colegas, así como para la Escuela Monarch.

Narrar esta conexión con la naturaleza a través de su estilo de vida y su arte es su propósito.
