VALERIE JACKSON - multimedia artist

Valerie Jackson (b. San Diego, CA) is a multimedia artist based in Southern California. With a background in photography and animation, her work combines documentation and fiction to study human occupation of physical and digital spaces. While studying at the University of California, Santa Cruz, she produced and exhibited gallery installations as a part of the 2022 Irwin Scholarship cohort. As a fellow at UCSC’s Digital Arts and Research Labs, Jackson researched integrations of A.I. into traditional 2D animation workflows solely utilizing open source tools - later applying this research to develop an award-winning short animation in collaboration with Film Production students at the University of Southern California. Her interest in digital technologies and culture has inspired collaborations with sound artists, audio reactive visual techniques, and experimental collage artworks.
