Now in its sixth year, WORKING TITLE has become a landmark celebration of experimental art and music in the San Diego–Tijuana borderlands. Each spring, emerging and established artists transform St. Paul's Cathedral into a living exhibition of installations, performances, and unexpected encounters, inviting audiences to wander a labyrinth of sound, movement, and visual art. Each work becomes its own offering, asking audiences to pause, reflect, and discover new ways of listening, seeing, and remembering. This year's festival once again includes an open call for submissions, reflecting Project [BLANK]'s ongoing commitment to accessibility, community connection, and fostering new artistic voices.

Anchoring this season's WORKING TITLE is the world premiere of blood replica, a major new work for solo piano by acclaimed composer Ti McCormack, performed by Project [BLANK] co-founder Brendan Nguyen. Drawing its title from the writings of Alan Barnett, who died during the AIDS epidemic, blood replica reflects on queer ancestry, memory, and the passage of time. Inspired by the tradition of the “ex-voto”—an object offered in gratitude, remembrance, or healing—the work unfolds as an intensely focused meditation on resilience, carrying forward the voices and histories of those who came before while inhabiting the charged, suspended experience of living in the present.

Over the course of the weekend, audiences can explore the cathedral's nave, transepts, and cloisters, where site-specific works, multimedia installations, and performances mingle with the shifting light cast through its stained-glass windows. From meditative sound environments to large-scale installations and provocative performance art, WORKING TITLE No. 6 invites audiences to experience the cathedral as a dynamic canvas for some of the most adventurous artists working in the San Diego–Tijuana borderlands.
